At first blush, painting a non-figurative representation of the border wall and the
border might seem a distancing medium for a powerful topic. Much of the art
depicting the wall and its separation of families and communities is captured
through photography or installations. My goal with these paintings is to pull the viewer in without the preconception of the photograph and create an indeterminant and open space that allows 4 unforeseen and unanticipated emotions to emerge. This openness is the beauty and uniqueness of paint.
